I liked the way you posed questions about what it takes to go back to school and how it can be a life changing experience. People do not realize how challenging and stressful it can be to work a full-time job and complete online classes. Therefore, we must become self-directed learners, who take pride in our work, and maintain good time management skills. As you mentioned, adult learners are motivated the most when learning choices are provided and they have a desire to make themselves better. Your movie “Motivating Adults Learners” to go back to school, while my movie on “Transformative Learning” helps adult learners finish school and become life-long learners. Without motivation, the learning process would stop. Learningcoach.com recommends 30 ways to motivate adult learners and explains that the secret to staying motivated is to discover what drives a person’s intrinsic motivation.

  2. Kimberly,

I really enjoyed your graphics. I thought it was catching when you changed colors on the slide. Your video was very informative. One thing, I would add more movie shots. Most of it consisted of slides like in power point. Other than that, I thought it was great!

  3. Kimberly,

Not having made a video before, I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, qualified to critique your work. I think you have a good video. Your clips and stills thread a clear storyline. My first reaction was that your narration was a bit fast and, in places, unclear. You have included excellent textual visuals with clear and accurate supportive materials. I thought, however, text was overwhelming for a video. For example, by making your slide, “Characteristics of Adult Learner” visible for an extended time could make a viewer tune-out of the message you were conveying. Having various individuals talk about their personal experience in terms of their lack of motivation was apropos to the theme of the video.

I know it must have taken you a lot of work to put that video together. Thank you.

    Best regards,

    David

  4. Great video, I do agree with some of the stuff that David said about the text. I know it was hard to find a way to "show" motivation. My video was on Open Source software, it was difficult to "show" open source also. You did a great job delivering the information, however did you introduce anyone? I did not notice that you introduced anyone for a conference. I have watched three or four videos now where that did not happen, maybe I missed part of the assignment.

  5. I enjoyed your movie. What software did you use to create it? I tried mixing music and narration with Movie Maker and it would not allow me to do so. I liked how you included mini-interviews with adult learners pertaining to motivation.

  6. Kimberly,
I loved your content. I could have been a case study for your project! The graphics and editing were good too. Like Eric said, I have also noticed that many of the videos did not introduce a keynote speaker, but overall I think you did a good job hitting on all of the reasons for lack of motivation and how to address them.

I really liked your video and how you changed back and forth from being the narrator to showing examples of adult learners. It was also very effective to scroll strategies for motivating adult learners across the screen with a picture. Good job!
